Special Staff to the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs: UIN Welcomes Students of All Religions

Palu (UINDK Palu PR) – Mr. Mohammad Nurruzzaman, Special Staff to the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, responsible for Tolerance, Radicalism, and Islamic Boarding Schools, has declared that individuals from all religious backgrounds have the right to pursue their education at the State Islamic University (UIN) Datokarama Palu, located in Central Sulawesi.

During his visit to UIN Datokarama Palu on Wednesday, August 30, Nurruzzaman stated firmly, “UIN campuses are not exclusive to Muslims; They are open to people of all religions.”

He made this announcement while delivering a public lecture to students at the UIN Datokarama Palu Auditorium.

Nurruzzaman was delegated by the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, Mr. Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, to serve as a keynote speaker at the public lecture for the odd semester of the academic year 2023/2024, an event attended by the academic community of the institution.

In the course of the event, Nurruzzaman emphasized that religious higher education institutions (PTK) operating under the Ministry of Religious Affairs cater to students of all religious affiliations. Consequently, he asserted that individuals belonging to any faith have the privilege of pursuing undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees at PTK institutions under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, including UIN Datokarama Palu.

“Non-Muslim individuals also have the right to enroll at UIN Datokarama Palu,” he affirmed.

Nurruzzaman noted that several PTK institutions under the Ministry of Religious Affairs have already accepted non-Muslim students across various academic levels, from undergraduate to doctoral programs. “In fact,” he added, “there are instances of Christian pastors pursuing master’s degrees within PTK institutions.”

Thus, he underscored that UIN Datokarama Palu is fully capable of admitting non-Muslim students, especially since the institution has introduced a range of non-Islamic science study programs. Currently, UIN Datokarama Palu offers diverse study programs, encompassing disciplines such as Architecture, Information Systems, Informatics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, English Language, Indonesian Language, Mathematics, and Banking.

In 2022, UIN Datokarama Palu proudly celebrated the graduation of four non-Muslim female students who had successfully completed undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Ushuluddin Adab and Da’wah.
