UIN Palu Sends 164 Students for Community Service in Remote Areas of Donggala and Tolitoli

Palu, Central Sulawesi (UIN Datokarama Palu PR) – The State Islamic University (UIN) Datokarama Palu in Central Sulawesi, has dispatched a total of 164 students to undertake their community service program, known as Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN), in remote areas within the Donggala and Tolitoli districts.

The Head of the Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M) at UIN Palu, Dr. Rustina, confirmed this move and shared insights on the program’s objectives. She emphasized that the students would be placed in 29 villages, including the Sojol and Sojol Utara sub-districts in Donggala, as well as the Dampal Selatan and Dampal Utara sub-districts in Tolitoli.

Rustina highlighted that the selection of these remote areas was coordinated with the local governments of Donggala and Tolitoli. This ensures that the KKN program and the students’ initiatives align with the development priorities set by the district and sub-district governments.

“This is part of our efforts to support the acceleration of development in remote areas through community empowerment, particularly in the fields of education and socio-religious aspects,” explained Rustina.

The students are currently undergoing orientation and training as part of the KKN program, which includes strengthening their understanding of the program’s core objectives. This preparation equips them with the knowledge of the priority areas they will be working on during their field deployment.

Prof. Sagaf S. Pettalongi, the Rector of UIN Palu, expressed that placing students in remote areas exemplifies the university’s commitment to assist the government in advancing rural development.

“As an institution of higher education, UIN is strongly committed to contributing to the government’s success in regional development,” said Sagaf Pettalongi.

The Rector encouraged the students to actively participate in the KKN program and to represent UIN Palu with distinction throughout their placement, from their time in the field to their return to the campus.

Furthermore, the Rector urged the KKN students to respect and uphold the cultural values and local wisdom of the two districts they will be serving in, fostering mutual respect and understanding in the process.
